Shelter for Sophie

Shelter for Sophie (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Book 8)Shelter for Sophie by Susan Stoker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Insta-love, Stoker style. Sophie stutters and has been admiring Chief (Roman) of Fire Station 7 since he moved in next door to her. What Sophie doesn’t know is that Chief has admired her, too. When he mistakes an overheard conversation between Sophie and her co-workers, he confronts her rudely. She gives it right back and tells him he has no idea what he’s talking about, and to investigate before he makes accusations.

He, of course, has to apologize to her, and so the romance begins. She thinks he’s too gorgeous for her and he has to convince her he is interested. The backdrop of the abandoned building next door and the homeless folks Sophie has adopted, the fires all over town set by an arsonist, and the accident at Sophie’s home all allow Chief to be the hero she knows him to be. Sophie is no pushover, though. She is a brave woman and she is Chief’s true match.

There are sweet moments here, as well as a little conflict. Best of all, there are hints of three upcoming romances.
