Slices of Night

Slices of NightSlices of Night by J.T. Ellison
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

A serial killer in three acts, giving three authors a crack at bringing the perp down. In New Orleans, Det. Killian finds the body of the young first victim and the sad leavings of her death. When the second victim appears, all is not what it originally seemed.

In Nashville, Lt. Taylor Jackson deals with a politically sensitive murder and a rare gift – a stolen wallet that appears to belong to the killer. When the second victim appears with the killer’s signature, Taylor consults her fiance John, a profiler. John recommends she contact Maggie O’Dell who provides more data.

When the killer hits Omaha, there are surprises in store for him, as well as for Maggie.

Except for some sloppy editing, particularly in the Kava story, this is a good yarn.

Protecting Secrets (Kindle Worlds)

Special Forces: Operation Alpha: Protecting Secrets (Kindle Worlds Novella) (Secrets & Seduction Book 4)Special Forces: Operation Alpha: Protecting Secrets (Kindle Worlds Novella) by MJ Nightingale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this one, using characters from the SEAL of Protection series (primarily wives) and Nightingale’s Secrets and Seduction series. Even with the grammatical errors, the story was a good one.

Redemption for one, a new family for another and new friends for all, make the story sweet, too. The best part is the mending of broken spirits among three very strong women. BTW, they also put down a pretty nasty criminal, too!
